This work depicts in detail the real-life scenes of a group of outsiders who came to Xi'an to work and do business with the local villagers of Xujiawan at the beginning of the 21st century at the time of the rise of the building materials market in the northern suburbs of Xi'an, and records their life experiences that went from strength to strength because of playing mahjong, and tells of the fate of their lives gambled in misfortune because of their indulgence in playing mahjong.
